Macon area trails

Georgia Industrial Children's Home (AKA the Pig Trail)

4690 North Mumford Road, Macon, Ga, 31210 (Map)

This 7 mile trail is fun for riders of all skill levels. It offers a mix of technical singletrack, a fast, twisty section through pine trees, and some doubletrack. Not much climbing, but one short, steep hill dubbed "Chandler's Challenge" may test you. This is a very popular trail, so be on the lookout for other bikes, runners, hikers and dogs.

L.H. Thomson

7800 NE Industrial Blvd, Macon, Ga, 31216 (Map)

The 4.5-mile trail at the L.H. Thomson Factory has undergone some trail repair lately and offers a little bit of everything. This trail has good climbs and descents, including a few steep ones. You'll also find log jumps, lots of exposed roots, switchbacks, and a creek crossing. The land-owners would like you to sign a waiver before you hit the trail.

Arrowhead Park at Lake Tobesofkee

Columbus Rd to Arrowhead Dr, Macon, Ga 31220 (Map)

This 5-mile trail is the newest in town, winding up and down the hills of Lake Tobesofkee. If you're looking for some climbing, this trail has 640 feet of it. Most of the hills aren't big -- it's just steady, gradual stuff. This trail is somewhat technical in places -- as you'll find switchbacks, a few rocks, a few roots, some tight sections, a creek crossing, a double dip, and a steep climb at the end.

East Macon Park

3326 Ocmulgee East Blvd, Macon, Ga, 31201 (Map)

This 5-mile trail is mostly singletrack with some fast downhills and good climbs, with a couple of switchbacks thrown. Watch out for all the sand. Note: This trail is currently under repair -- be on the look out for downed trees. It isn't in the best part of town, so be careful.
